My Why
I was born to a mom who dropped out of high school pregnant at 16 and eloped to Mexico to marry my father, who she met at a Girl Scout outing at the Salton Sea fresh out of the U.S. Navy at 22. He tried to provide for our family as a one-man landscaper and liquor store clerk while my mother unhappily gained over 200 pounds by the time they declared bankruptcy when I was 7. They loved me the best they could but, when I got my driver’s license at 16 a few years before they divorced, I set off on a quest to build a better life not knowing what I didn’t know and burdened in ways I didn’t understand. After decades of trials, errors, peaks, and valleys I learned, practiced, and refined enough research-based, safe, and effective methods of self-improvement that brought me, thankfully, to living a good life as a generally happy, healthy, fit, and social person who now feels driven to share my hard-won learning and experience to facilitate the same kinds of growth in people like you.
